He quieted for a moment, searching Eli's face as well as his own emotions and feelings. He gave his hips a little rock, felt that shock of adrenaline spike through him again, and asked what he needed to ask. "You've done this before," he said, and left it there, because as much as he needed to know, he couldn't bring himself to hear that he was coming up short again.
